ULTRAMARATHON SWIM SERIES

For the second time, Portugal will be hosting a stage of the most challenging open water ultramarathon swimming circuit, the Ultramarathon Swim Series, organized by the World Open Water Swimming Association (WOWSA).

The Travessia Lisboa-Cascais, which will take place on September 21st with a 20km course, is the longest race ever held in mainland Portugal.

Jorge Paulo Pereira, the event organizer from Swim Grand Prix:

“This invitation gave us the unique opportunity to create in Portugal, one of the most challenging races in the world, and be a part of a world circuit. Being internationally recognized for our trajectory in the sport fills us with pride, in
particular for open-water swimming.”

“It has been confirmed that world-class athletes will participate in the Travessia Lisboa Cascais 20km and Travessia Oeiras Cascais 10km events, drawn to the uniqueness of swimming in the Tejo estuary and along the stunning coastline, which is like a true postcard. Open-water swimming has a rich tradition in our country, and we hope to revive significant achievements from the past to inspire a new generation of swimmers. We anticipate record-breaking international participation at this swimming festival, involving three Cities – Cascais, Oeiras and Lisbon.”
